Mrs. Monique Webb
MPES Grade One Teacher
The Webb Family (est. 2004)
Things We Love To Do:
Swimming, Camping, Playing Outside, Travelling and spending time with friends!
Fun Facts:
I am a middle child. I love to eat out at resturants. I love to cook. I love pets but don't have any. I love to wear my pj's all day! I love to dance. Social Media bugs me but I use it anyway. I got to go to Chile in 2009 with Operation Christmas Child. My latest hobby is running in fitness races like MS Bike tour, Mud Hero and charity runs!
A little about me...
I was born and raised in St. Albert and attended the University of Alberta where I earned my Bachelor of Education Degree. I married my husband Andrew in 2004 and we have two wonderful children, Jackson and Juliet. Previously I have taught high school and junior high drama, english and social studies. I have been working with Sturgeon School Division since 2005 as a Jr. Kindergarten teacher at Ochre Park School in Redwater. Morinville Jr. Kindergarten is an excellent program with awesome staff and, I’m certain, even better students.
I have always spent much of my time caring for young children; for the last ten years it has become a personal and professional focus of my life. The children I have worked with have come from a variety of backgrounds. Some were happy, healthy and vibrant, while many others were special needs, in foster care and/or medically fragile. I have seen these children struggle through more pain than most of us will experience in a lifetime. However, no matter their skills, abilities or backgrounds, all of the children benefited from programs like Jr. Kindergarten. I am thrilled that now I am able to help encourage this same growth in your children through our Jr. kindergarten program as their teacher.
I truly believe that by working together (myself, you and your child) we will see positive results in every student. Together we share a unified goal: improving the lives of ourchildren. As I believe in the team approach to successful teaching, I am always willing to meet with families. I will be available daily at the Parish Hall before and after class, should you ever wish to meet with me. I will also be available by phone or e-mail. If you wish to have longer or very detailed conversations please try to let me know in advance so that I am able to reserve enough time to spend with you.

My Teaching Philosophy:
Interest, purpose and excitement open the doors for learning....
I believe that students learn more easily and retain more knowledge when what they are learning is something they have interest in, has purpose for them and is something they are or can be excited about. When all these elements are present during learning then learning becomes almost effortless for the students. They have fun and their knowledge becomes contagious. I strive to create lessons and opportunities for my students that follow their interests, serve them an immediate purpose and I allow them to become excited.
To create an independent learner we must give students guided independence and resiliency skills....
Students of the 21st century must be quick thinkers and be able to adapt to changes in technology and practices quickly. In order to foster these skills in students I believe we must build their ability to think independently very young. Students must be given opportunities to do, try, problem solve, and work things out on their own without help, but guidance. To guide students we can ask them questions, explain and verbalize their reasoning and logic, and explain the steps of problem solving. Then we celebrate their success with great exuberance!
Trust is built by consistency...
Students must feel safe, loved and cared for in their learning environment. When students have this faith and trust in their school, classroom and with their educators (both parents and teachers) they can accomplish more learning. Students feel this trust when they know that what you do and say is real and evident. Therefore as their educators we must build trust by being consistent in our expectations, classroom management and by being honest with our students. The image of ourselves that we present to our students should be true to the life that we lead outside of our classroom.

MPS Teachers Strive for Excellence:
Mr. Rufiange and I were honoured in 2013 with nominations for the Excellence in Teaching Awards. We really appreciate all the support from our staff/teammates, families, parents and students. Thank-you for all your congratulations. Here are a few pictures from the ceremony hosted by Sturgeon School Division. It is nice to work for a school division willing to host such an event even just for a nomination. Sturgeon loves to celebrate big and small success for students and staff! Awesome! |
