Monique Webb Cumulative Project: AD/HD - Working Memory and Phonological Awareness
For the 842 cumulative project we were challenge to create a professional development presentation. I chose to create a presentation highlighting strategies to help students with AD/HD and working memory concerns learn phonological awareness.
My Context and Audience:
In my school division we have teacher led PD sessions one morning a month from 9:00-11:00am and so I designed my project to fit this model. It is designed to be an interactive presentation for kindergarten to grade 2 teachers. Our division has a high rate of beginning teachers and the presentation was built with this in mind. If more advanced teachers were in the audience the presentation would be need to be tailored to include more 'tier 2' information and interventions.
Presentation:
You can view my presentation here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1GBUTqmBjc58TIzpLlvlRD_--qbN56aQys2Kcl0xxwxk/edit?usp=sharing
From this link you can view the presentation in two modes: "edit" or "present". When you access the link above it will open the presentation in the editing mode. If you scroll through the presentation this way you will see my presentation notes along the bottom that describe briefly how I would facilitate the session and the approximate length of time I would spend on each slide. I was not really sure how else to demonstrate how the presentation itself would work so I hope this gets across the "feeling" of the presentation I would hope to achieve.
To view the presentation as an audience member click the "Present" play button on the top right. This will launch the presentation.
Technology Tool:
I chose Google slides as my design tool. This was my second time using google slides. I found it effective and simple to use. I did not need to spend a lot of time working with the technology to create the effects that I wanted and this allowed me to spend more time on the content of each slide. I did find the formatting tools a bit limited and the slide layout choices were also a bit limiting. This would be a technology platform that I would use again if I were making a lengthy presentation such as this.
